A Sage Alternative for Shops in Ghana

Sage is built for people whose job is accounts. That is a real audience and it is well served. The awkward part is that in a small retail business, the person who has to use the system every day is a cashier, and the person who wants to look at it in the evening is the owner. Neither of them is an accountant.

Who is actually going to use it

This is the question that decides the purchase, and it is usually asked last. A system designed around a chart of accounts assumes a user who thinks in a chart of accounts. Hand that to someone serving customers at a counter and one of two things happens: they do not use it, or somebody re-enters the day's takings afterwards.

QuadERP is designed around the counter first. Ringing up a sale is the primary action, and the money follows from it rather than being typed in separately.

We are not asking you to sack your accountant

Keep them. What changes is what you hand over: real records with dates, staff names and receipts attached, instead of a bag and a best guess. That normally makes their job smaller. What QuadERP does not do on the accounts side is written out plainly on the accounting page, including no VAT return and no filing.

Questions people ask when comparing

My accountant asked for Sage. What do I tell them?

That you are running the shop on QuadERP and will export whatever they need. Their work happens in their tool, yours happens at the counter, and the export is the handover between the two.

Does QuadERP produce accounts my accountant can use?

It produces a profit and loss and an aged receivables list, plus a full export of the underlying records. It does not produce a trial balance or a balance sheet, so those get built from the export.

Is training included?

Yes, if you want it. Guided setup is us loading your products and training whoever stands behind the counter, which is normally not the owner. It is optional and priced separately: set the system up yourself and you pay the monthly fee and nothing else.
